The Illinois Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta is located at Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois. It has a newly renovated chapter house located on Northwestern's Evanston campus at 2347 Sheridan Road.

Illinois Alpha was founded on February 12th, 1859 by students of Northwestern University. The chapter was the first Greek organization on Northwestern's campus and has had 1,982 brothers as of April, 4 2009.

The brothers and alumni of Illinois Alpha celebrated its 150th anniversary on May 8th, 2009 at the Evanston Hilton Garden Inn.

Illinois Alpha was the recipient of the 2009 Phoenix Award, and was presented the honor at the 2009 Emerging Leaders Institute held at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Illinois Alpha is closely associated with the Chicago Alumni Club of Phi Delta Theta the two chapters periodically hold social events between brothers and local alumni.
